I first took this book to the pub to read, when I was early to meet friends! I was engrossed very quickly, and was almost rude to them as I carried on peeping at the pages! The book is an historical account of the barge people called 'The Fryske', their water Witchcraft, and methods of worship, which dates back to Holland and the Frisian matriarchal religion. It reads like something out of 'Red Sonja'! I admire the work gone into putting this together, it will only be interesting to those historical people out there, as it is quite heavy going, and I feel that Mr. Steele has taken this opportunity during his writings, to air his own views on matters which don't seem to relate to the content of the book, which is a shame, as I found the whole water-Witch tradition fascinating.
